Lauren's Playroom!

Here it is finally! I have been waiting for IKEA to send me a missing piece for awhile now and it finally came in the mail today. Dan put the last piece together and here it is! Do you recognize the "Jiinkin Kids" art! I plan to frame it, just looking for the right frame. Instead of the traditional toy box, we got a wardrobe for play clothes and a chest to store games, toys, etc. There is also a bookshelf that has a pretty good book collection going already. :) Whatcha think?
Your little ones have Lauren's invitation to come play anytime! :)

For My Friend

I met with a good friend for lunch today. We talked and laughed and shared our stories of infertility and the "unknown" of our future family plans. I remembered this video from awhile back and wanted to post it here today for her and other friends who may not have seen this yet or for those of us who need a reminder that we are not alone on this journey.

Empty Arms

Highly Recommend

A friend of ours gave us this book recently. I read it in one week. I was totally taken by this book. The author is a writer for a newspaper and has recently adopted two daughters from China. His writing is captive and the best part is he talks about the wait and feelings that I'm sure most of us have felt. He also tells the story of adopting his first daughter and some of the troubles they experienced. I highly recommend getting this book. I think it's great for future father's as well, because the author talks about his "passage to fatherhood".

Weekend Fun

Last weekend was filled with lots of fun, laughs, and...wine. :) I enjoyed a girls night out with friends on Saturday. We went to see "Grease" at the Broadway Theatre and then enjoyed wine and chocolate at my new fav lounge, Sweet O.

Dan and I saw Michael Buble in concert Sunday night and had soo much fun! If you aren't familiar with Michael yet, I'm sure you will be. They say he's the next Frank Sinatra. He is such a great entertainer and the concert was awesome.

Sonja--when you read this...know that we missed you at "Grease". Someday we will have to visit you in your new beautiful home in South Carolina! :) You're my favorite Southern Belle! :)

Babies On The Way!!

The CCAA has just updated their website and many families will be seeing their little ones faces for the first time this weekend! Congratulations! For the rest of us, we just inched up a little closer in line! The following is from our agency:

Children's Hope is delighted to announce the arrival of 15 China
referrals for our 11/8/05 log in date families on July 6, 2007.
There were 14 beautiful little girls and one very handsome little
boy. They are from the Guangxi and Guangdong provinces. They range
in age from 9 to 14 months, one 17 month old and one 26 month old
(parents requested up to 3 years of age). These referrals were for
the 11/8/05 through 11/14/05 log in dates. These families waited 20
months from log in date to referral. We expect these families to
travel in about 8 weeks.

Congratulations to these families and all our China families who
have moved up in line!

Busy Busy!!

Sorry to leave you hanging these past couple weeks. Life has been blurring by! Here is an update on what's new for the Davenport's:

1) Dan turned 34 on Sunday!

2) I learned how to place PICC lines (central catheters) at work..very fun, however the first one was nervewrecking!

3) I got my official acceptance letter from ASU for my Nurse Practitioner graduate program. I start in August.

4) Dan & I joined a mixed martial arts (MMA) gym. We love it! I'm addicted to kickboxing. Dan loves the Jiu Jitsu. He looks really hot in his Gi. :)

5) We bought Lauren's playroom furniture. Very fun! I will post pictures soon. I just have to assemble one more piece.

Well, I need to go pick up Dan from work, we're having one of our cars serviced today, so we carpooled.

Have a great week everyone!

Our 8th Wedding Anniversary

Today is our 8th wedding anniversary! We celebrated last weekend by going to the J.W. Marriott resort here in town. We layed by the pool drinking Pina Colada's, laughed together on the lazy river, and enjoyed talking for hours around the fire pit at the outdoor Vista Lounge.

Above is the view from our room. Sorry, it's as far as my camera got this weekend. :)

My Porch

I was tagged by Seventh Diamond to post my porch...here it is! My door is always open to any of you!

When we built our home, I picked this design just for the porch. I am from Michigan where most homes have porches. I love to sit outside on my bench and watch the sun come over the mountains in the morning. We often have hot air balloons rising in the sky as well. It's a good spot to start the day with a cup of coffee and thank God for my many, many blessings.

West Fork Trail

The first weekend in June we headed for the West Fork Trail in Oak Creek Canyon, AZ. It's about a 1.5 hour drive from our home, but when you get here you feel like you are in a different world. This trail follows the Oak Creek and is absolutely beautiful. You can just feel the stress melt off as soon as you arrive. It is absolutely my favorite trail.

Shhhh...she thinks she's a Labrador, let's not tell her any different. :)

Well, another batch of referrals are on their way! Congratulations to all the families who are receiving their little ones faces in the mail this weekend! It looks like the referral cut-off was November 7th 2005. So, slowly but surely, we are moving up in line!

Dan and I are off for a weekend away to celebrate our 8th Anniversary! I will post more later. Have a great weekend everyone!

Seventh Diamond--Thanks for tagging me! I will post my porch soon! :)

Rose

I saw this post on Steph's site and wanted to pass on the prayer request for little Rose. You can find out how to pray by going to Mark's blog. Mark and Megan have been in the process of adopting Rose and their world came crashing down last Saturday.

Memorial Day

I watched the National Memorial Day Concert on PBS last night and had tears streaming down my face for most of it. I was reminded of the cost of our freedom. I am so thankful to our troops who are fighting for us now and for those who have fought in the past.

Lauren's Dresser Arrived!

Lauren's room is coming together! I can't wait to sit and fill the dresser drawers with my sweet girls clothes. I would start tonight, but we are having dinner with friends an hour from now. Had to post pictures first though! :) The picture frame is one my mom gave me at the beginning of our journey to Lauren. It will sit on her dresser and wait until we have Lauren's first picture to be framed. For now, we have our LID notification card. :) Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

Congratulations Leah!!

Today our little flower girl graduates from High School! Wow, where has the time gone! Leah was our flower girl and she's also my cousin. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. I am so proud of her and wish I could be at her graduation ceremony today in Michigan. Congratulations Leah! You have such a bright future.

All our love!!

Stay Sunday Forever..

It's one of those weekends, that I don't want to end. I find myself trying to hold on to the time. Dan and I went to the Arizona Broadway Theatre last night. It is one of my favorite dates we go on. It's a dinner theatre and they always have a menu that goes along with the play's theme. So, last night we had a wonderful Greek meal, saw a great show, during intermission we had coffee and dessert, and then watched the second half of the play. It is so romantic and fun!

Other than this, we have watched movies at home, walked Bailey, and ate out for breakfast. ahhh...life is so good!!

And, ready or not, here comes Monday. I work 6 12-hour shifts this week. I am taking advantage of the double overtime they are offering, so needless to say, You won't hear much from my blog this week. I hope you all have a great week!!
