Here are my two favorite hiking partners, Dan and Bailey! We are on the Arizona Trail here. We have seen Elk up close and Antelope have run right past us while hiking this trail in the past. Of course, I had my camera this time, so we didn't see any wildlife. :)

The last couple of weekends Dan and I have been escaping the heat and heading to the high country of Flagstaff! We've hiked the beautiful trails and sat around the campfire. I love to hear the breeze through the Pines and hear the caw of the crows. The stress just melts off. We've also enjoyed a few long runs while up north. My favorite trail is the West Fork trail in Oak Creek Canyon. It takes you through some unbelievable canyons and the trail follows the creek for miles. Ahhh. This is how Phoenician's know it's actually fall!

Too funny Mardi! After I posted my camping pictures... I came to your site! Lo and behold... your camping adventures!! :-) I love that we have things in common with you and Dan! Maybe we can all go camping sometime with our little girls! Wouldn't that be fun!
... I was laughing about your statement "...this is how us Phonecians know it's fall!".... that's so true! I think that if it weren't for my parents living in the mountains of AZ, my sister would forget what colored leaves look like!!!!
Anyhoo, I wish you guys could have made it for the Moon Festival, but I'll take lots of pictures so you will know what you guys are in for next year!! :-)
So when can we come and visit?
Joel and I love to hike and a couple of years ago we flew to Alberta to partake in the trails in the mountains. It was so amazing! We saw elk as well (scared the crap out of us) and we were in awe of the beauty.
Hey Mardi...Love the pics! If that area is off a highway that goes between the Grand Canyon area and Flagstaff, we went right through there a few winters ago. We loved it! Spent a lot of time in that area one day. We found a little church of some kind on the side of the road, it was VERY small and had one wall in the back that looked over the mountains.
Of course there was LOTS of snow, but it sure looks like the same area we passed through. So when are we all going camping???
