If My Purse Could Talk

If my purse could talk it would have quite the story to tell. Yesterday afternoon upon returning to my car after hiking, I found my car had been broken into. The rear passenger window was smashed out, glass was everywhere and my purse was taken from the back. I think someone must have been watching me put my purse away in the back compartment out of sight, because they went right to the window closest to it and knew where to find the purse. I called the police and a very nice, sincere officer came and filed my report. I called and cancelled my cards and froze my bank account immediately. When cancelling my credit card I was told that in the hour while I was hiking my card had been used at 5 different convenient stores, 7-11, Circle K, QT, etc. They were busy!

Well, the story continues... at 10pm we get a call from a guy saying he just found my purse in the dumpster at his apt. complex, about 30 miles from our home. We got his name and address and this morning Dan went and picked up my purse from him. The cash and cards are of course gone, but my pictures, work ID badge, and other things were there. I am very grateful to have my pictures back. I could care less about the money. They took my Tide Pen though..strange. :)

So, my purse has had a very busy weekend and it is now sanitized and sitting on my washer drying.

Ugh. I'm sorry that happened to you. That's happened to me a couple of times and I just hate that feeling of being violated. I hope the car that got broken into wasn't your new car?????
I'm glad someone found your purse and a few belongings... hopefully the police will track down the little bugger that did this to you!!!!

That is so crazy! I'm so sorry that you had to have this happen. I can't believe they took your Tide Pen...but then again it IS quite the invention.
Hope the hike was fun, at least.

Thanks guys! :) Yeah, Steph, it was my new car. :(

The cops do have a lead right now though, hopefully they are able to catch them before they do this to someone else.

That is crazy! I am sorry to hear about that but it is nice to know that there are good people out there to lend a hand.

I guess they want to be clean scummy robbers.

Keep smilin!

I am glad the police have a lead. This is a tough e-mail for me to read this morning. I drove all the way to work this morning wondering if I closed my garage door. I hate that feeling.

How scarey! It makes me nervous anytime something like that happens. I'm glad that you have your id's back though. Too funny about the Tide pen.

Did they catch the guy? I hope so!!!

I'm so sorry that was your new car. I would hate for that to happen to my "Libby"! :) Hopefully they didn't do any body damage!

Oh, that's terrible! I'm so sorry. I had my wallet stolen at my son's birthday party last year, and I know what a pain it is...but your car too...what a mess! It is scary to think that somebody was watching you too! Glad you are ok!

oh man, that stinks. Glad you got most of it back.
I have almost lost my purse before...but a very nice man found it lying in the parking lot of a shopping mall...and while I ran around the mall frantically...I ran into him on his way to the info desk.

Mardi - I am so sorry that you had to go through such an awful experience. We must always look on the bright side - at least you weren't injured or put in harms way.
