Congratulations on your beautiful daughter! My daughter was 18 months old when I met her and far older than any of the other children in our group. I was so concerned about her development/bonding and sad over the lost time, BUT...she is so incredible in everyway it is amazing. She grieved harder than the little babies and it took a few months for her full personality to shine forth. She is the brightest, sweetest thing you could ever imagine and I couldn't be more blessed. And everything is "first". You will have her first birthday celebration, first time to call you Mama, really first everything. It's going to be so wonderful. Bless you!
I just knew you'd be having a CUTE blog once that sweet baby girl's picture was on it!!! So Cute!!! I hope you are just having the time of your life!!! ; )
Our little JJ was 19 months at referral. It is the most wonderful age. You will love it. Their personality unfolds a little bit every single day. It is amazing.
Hi. I got your blog off of RQ. We have an lid of 3/14/06. I was excited to see that you got a referral from Guizhou province. My sister and her husband are living in Kali in Guizhou. I sent her your blog and she said she would be happy to email with you if you wanted. My email is HTFrantz92@yahoo.com if you want to email me I can get you in touch with her.
Do you have to wait...can you leave now? She looks ready to go and she doesn't like sitting in that red chair. I don't think she likes to stand still either...probably why she is a good sleeper. :-) Terri
Hi there - Congrats to you! Your daughter is lovely. My friend sent me the link to your blog from RQ this morning. My name is Shelly and my daughter Amelia was born in Duyun, Guizhou. She joined our family in Feb. 2008. Very few children are referred from this province, so I wanted to reach out and let you know that there's a yahoo group called Guizhouadopt that you can join - a very helpful resouce. Any qustions you might have about the trip, or Guizhou in general - please let me know. I can tell you that most of the children that come from Guizhou are older at the time of referral - our daughter was also 19 months. She is the light of our lives - and for all the worry I had about her age - in terms of how difficult this transiton might be for her - she has done so well & is thriving. I also wanted to note that Guizhou is a very diverse province - so it's quite possible that your daughter belongs to one of the many ethnic groups there. Best to you!
Congratulations Mardi!!!! I'm SO excited for you and Dan. Reading your blog just makes me cry every time. You are such an eloquent author. I can't wait to hear more!
We started this site 8 years ago to journal our journey to Lauren. We are now going on our five year anniversary of having Lauren finally in our arms. Life with Lauren is more than we could have ever imagined. God truly blesses abundantly.
We love you Lauren Elizabeth!
